Onipa’a No Maui – Ka Lāhui Hawai’i’s Campaign to Help the Families of Maui

The August 8, 2023 west Maui fires devastated communities most especially Kanaka Maoli families. Lahaina town, once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, has been burnt to ash. Over a hundred men, women, and children have died. Thousands became houseless overnight and are still houseless today.

For 8 months Ka Lāhui Hawai’i has been serving the affected families of Maui. During our more recent frontline aid distribution on April 13, 2024 we heard tragic stories of families having difficulties as a result of the August 8, 2023 fires. Help support our work by donating to mutualaidkalahui.com

Ka Lāhui Hawai’i has been helping to raise funds for Kanaka Maoli and other affected families and groups on Maui.

We have been working with Mutual Aid Ka Lāhui and various non profits to provide direct cash aid, supplies, increased access to clean drinking water, and set up platforms to spread the message of what is happening to the families of West Maui. We have also volunteered our time to kōkua at the hubs.

Ka Lahui Hawai’i held a Drag Show Fundraiser to raise money for the families of Maui less than two weeks after the Lahaina fires. 100% of monies raised went directly to families.
