People to the Polls August 4, 2018

On Saturday, August 4, 2018 Ka Lāhui Hawai’i Political Action Committee members participated in the Young Progressives Demanding Action event “People to the Polls” that was held on the Lawn of the Hawai’i State Legislature.  There many other groups in attendance, music, food and poetry.  We handed information including our 2018 & 2017 Koho Pono Legislative Report Card.

Year of the Hawaiian August 4, 2018

In the evening of Saturday, August 4, 2018 KPAC had a booth at the “Year of the Hawaiian” event at the parking lot of the Aloha Stadium.  It was a whole evening of food, awesome music, informational booths and vendors.  KPAC supported the ‘No Aloha Poke Co.’ movement by selling shirts where all proceeds when to the Kanaka Maoli business owners who were harassed for using the Hawaiian word ‘Aloha’.  We were also able to give out important information including our Koho Pono 2017 & 2018 Legislative Report Cards.

Hawai’i Public Radio Interview

The Chair of Ka Lāhui Hawai’i Political Action Committee was interviewed by Hawai’i Public Radio regarding the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) elections before the Hawai’i State primaries.  In the article dated August 9, 2018, the Chair, Healani Sonoda-Pale, says “…issues such as the long-term management of Mauna Kea and federal recognition for native Hawaiians are coming to a head in coming years, and OHAʻs stance makes a difference.”
