February 2020 News

This was another busy month for Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi Political Action Committee (KPAC) aka Kōmike Kālaiʻāina.  We partnered with the Peace Justice and Reconciliation Center and held two testimony writing workshops at St. Andrews Cathedral in downtown Honolulu and at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wahiawa.  We were blessed to be hosted by the Wai’anae community to host a third testimony writing workshop in preparation for the 2020 Legislative Session.  Food and materials were provided by the Kōmike Kālaiʻāina and the Wai’anae community.  The events were well attended.

Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi Political Action Committee testified and monitored legislation at the Hawai’i State Capitol.  Three measures were of concern around the issues of Mauna Kea (HCR 37), Kuleana Lands (SB 749) and the Criminalization of the Traditional Rights (SB 42).
